Christmas in Idaho

This year for Christmas we decided to go visit one of Shawn's sisters who lives near Boise, Idaho. Before this visit I had never met her or her husband an they had never met Porter. I was a tiny bit apprehensive about staying at someone's house for a whole week, whom I had never met before. We were also planning to drive there.... Also nerve racking.
Before leaving I was made to believe it was about an 11 hour drive.. Boy was I surprise when it took us from 8pm Friday night till noon on Saturday to get there!!! We did stop for about 2 hours to nap and probably a total of another hour and a half for potty breaks and wiggle breaks. Our little Porter did so well! He slept most the night, then was a trooper and didn't cry too much when he was awake!
We had a fantastic time with Shawn's sister! Christmas was so fun with porter this year. He would hand us the present to open then be so excited to see what was inside!!
While we were there we did some touristy things of course. We went to A park that was decorated with tons of lights! It was so beautiful and neat to see. We spent some time at a zoo, Porter just loved it! Funny story to go with the zoo trip... While walking by the lions we put porter down so he could walk. He decided that we were going the wrong way and started to take off on the they direction.. Well the lioness had also noticed that porter was running solo and must have thought he would have made an easy lunch. The lioness started to stalk porter as he moved and pawed at the glass trying to get threw a couple times. Good thing there was glass there!!!
We also got to tour an old prison which was very interesting! It had a hanging room and a "drop room" where they went to cut the body down and make sure the person was dead.. Kind of creepy if you ask me..
Another one of Shawn's sister and her family also came to Idaho for a visit. It was so nice to see all them and have the chance to get to know everyone better. Porter had so much fun and even slept well while we were there (which is a shocker, because usually when we travel he decides not to sleep!)
When it was time to come home I really had no desire to leave. Coming home meant cleaning my own house (don't mind cleaning others houses), getting organized for school and going back to school. Not what I'm looking forward too.. But alas life must go on.
I really lucked out when marrying Shawn, he has a fantastic family that I am proud to be apart of!!! I am so great full that we had the opportunity to visit them and have a little vacation of our own!
Before this ends I must say a bit about the coming home trip.... Not a success. We left in the afternoon hoping Porter would fall asleep. Ya didn't happen to awhile, then we got to dillon Montana where we planned to stay the night. Once we got there porter wouldn't go back to sleep unless I was in the bed with him and his feet where digging into my stomach. Needless to say I hardly slept. Dillon is about 6 hours from lethbridge, it took us 9 to get home!! I ended up waking up sick, so we had to stop frequently for me and stopped a few times for porter to get out and wiggle. He was still a trooper but had definitely had enough traveling, and so had I! But we made it safely, and are glad to be home!!
